Welcome to the farm! Our names are Tyler and Andrew, the owners of Raven Rock Livestock, and third-generation farmers.
Our story begins back with our great grandfather, farming in the early 1900s in Baltimore Maryland. Our grandfather, Walter, grew up on this farm. He learned all of the ins and outs of farming, from milking the cows to feeding the pigs. Walter was one of thirteen children and was one of the youngest. Walter watched his older brothers take over the family farm and eventually watched as it was sold off.
Our grandfather had a goal to one day own a farm of his own and pass it onto future generations. Through a lifetime of hard work and dedication, he was able to fulfill his dream and purchased a 67 acre farm in Fairfield Pennsylvania. Walter first started his operation by raising cattle and eventually expanded into raising pigs.
Some of our best memories as children were visiting the farm and helping our grandparents whenever we had a chance. When we were teenagers, our grandparents had to scale back operations due to health reasons. Unfortunately, they had to sell off all of the livestock. Between the upkeep and bills, the farm was starting to prove too much for our grandparents and it appeared the dream of passing the farm along was not going to happen. Fortunately, they managed to keep the farm until we were old enough to purchase it from them.
Our grandparents were so happy and proud to see the farm continue to stay in the family. Upon purchasing the farm, we launched Raven Rock Livestock and began raising cattle and pasture raised hogs. More recently, we have recently became an authorized Tarter Farm and Ranch Equipment retailer. Our goal is to provide local high-quality meats to nearby towns and cities, as well as providing our neighbors with quality equipment that they can use on their farms. We appreciate everyone’s support as we continue to build the Raven Rock brand and continue our family’s legacy.
